The only downside to Summoner's spell list is the need to gather summons by defeating optional bosses as the game progresses. If the player is not careful as they proceed through the game, you will be locked out of some of the list of summons (Shiva, Carbuncle, Catoblepas). !Summon passes its full magic power at level 5 (not even maximized, skipping !Call) which is readily attainable in the ~~midgame~~ making it an incredible option for passing.
