Strategies

Overview

Atomos has a simple script built around bursting down your party with magic and then drawing in the bodies. Since Atomos is most dangerous when in attack mode, it is a good idea to enter combat with a party member already dead so Atomos begins the fight drawing in the downed party member. You can KO another party member and revive the first one before they're drawn in completely to prevent them from being removed from battle while keeping Atomos in pull mode.

Beastmaster

The second and tenth floors of the Barrier Tower have monster-in-a-box encounters that can contain two Yellow Dragons. Releasing Yellow Dragons casts Lightning, which deals fractional damage equal to 1/4 of the target's total HP and can affect heavy targets. Four Yellow Dragon releases will kill Atomos.

Blue Mage

Dark Spark makes Atomos susceptible to Level 5 Death, which will end the fight instantly.

In the Defunct mobile/Steam and Pixel Remaster versions, Time Slip can put Atomos to sleep.

Mystic Knight

Atomos is susceptible to sleep. Repeated Sleep Blades from multiple party members can keep Atomos sleep-locked while it gets chipped away.

Samurai

On the SNES/PS and GBA versions, Mineuchi/SwdSlap is bugged and does a regular attack that fails to cure sleep, confusion, and control. If Atomos has already been slept, Mineuchi lets you get free damage on Atomos without rousing it.
