Acquisition

Dancer is acquired after the Earth Crystal is shattered

In the Fiesta

Dancer is a class defined entirely by its !Dance ability. !Dance has 4 outcomes of equal chance, 1) Sword Dance (quadruple damage), 2) Tempting Tango (confuse an enemy), 3) Jitterbug (drain HP from an enemy), and 4) Mystery Waltz (drain MP from an enemy). On balance using !Dance is increased damage, but when you do not get the Sword Dances you need it feels awful. By equipping specific armor (the Lamia's Tiara, Rainbow Dress, or Red Slippers) !Dance changes to be 50% Sword Dance, 25% Jitterbug, and 25% Mystery Waltz. This greatly improves Dancer's damage, but the equipment comes so late into a fiesta that it usually cannot be used. !Dance also will not break sleep or confusion, and in some versions the damage from it is back row ok which gives Dancer some flexibility. The saving grace of the class is the Ribbon, which is only equipable by Dancer or through an ability. The Ribbon gives immunity to many status effects (Dead, Stone, Toad, Poison, Darkness, Old, Berserk, and Silence) while also boosting all stats by 5 (boosting vitality does not increase maximum HP, only the amount recovered by Regen) to bring the Dancer up to an acceptable baseline.

Notable Synergies

  • Thief can steal a Lamia's Tiara in the Ronkan Ruins in World 1, so it may be useful to steal one before destroying the earth crystal in the rare occasion where you get a Dancer. This requires dropping the Ribbon until the Rainbow Dress is acquired, but it is still a useful tool.
  • Any ability that gives dancers access to more equipment to dance with is welcome, as it can give access to other powerful equipment to use on the way to the Chicken Knife while also boosting Dancer's Strength stat.
