Summary

The Sandworm is a boss fight that is noticeably different between versions due to dummy targeting behavior. If the player has a berserker they should consider knocking them out before entering this battle.

Strategies

Berserker

Bringing a live Berserker into this fight is a bad idea, but it is not an equally bad idea between versions. SNES features many more dummy targets than usual, and defunct PC/mobile always attacks the front row (which can lead to a quick battle). If Berserker is your only job for this fight you should consider leveling up past level 30 or beyond, which *may* be enough for the rest of the game depending on your remaining jobs (if you have only berserkers it is not enough).

Don't fall in

Attacking the holes triggers a Gravity counterattack, and depending on how quickly the sandworm changes its place you might be liable to falling in if your team only has single target damage. Contrary to what Mid said at the start of the fight, magic works fine as long as you can live through the counterattacks. Blue Mages and Beastmasters should visit the Dhrome Chimera as preparation for this fight, Aqua Rake will dramatically speed this battle up.
