Acquisition
Time Mage is acquired after the water crystal is broken.
In the Fiesta
Time magic is very powerful. A funny quirk about Time Mage is that none of its spells use its magic stat (Comet and Meteor) do no use the magic stat, so it only exists to boost Time Mage's MP. Time Mage can also break rods for offensive power in the earlygame. Staff access allows Time Mage to use the Healing Staff to fill its time after buffing the rest of the party with Haste.
Quickleak
Time Mage can slowly kill anything in the game vulnerable to HP Leak in some versions of the game (not PR). The steps are 1) Cast Quick 2) Break a Venom Rod on the chosen target 3) never take the second action. Time Mage is thus a solo win condition against Omega, Shinryu, Neo Exdeath, and many other difficult bosses. This method takes hours, so it is not recommended for use.
Notable synergies
- Time Mage mostly wants something to do after finishing its buff rotation. In the early game this is after casting haste once on everyone and maybe regen if you're really feeling it.
- Red Mage's Dualcast is extraordinarily powerful, but it will likely unlock sometime late in World 3 or in the Interdimensional Rift limiting its usefulness.
- Ninja's !Throw is incredible for Time Mage because of its large Magic, reasonable speed for a mage, and ability to boost the scrolls by holding rods.
- Do not use Quick's first action to sing a continuous song from Bard's !Sing. You will softlock unless you are playing a version where HP leak does not wear out within frozen time.
